Letter from our Vice President of Membership

Welcome to Cal!

My name is Ellie Lauderback, and I am the Vice President of Membership for the Lambda chapter of Sigma Kappa. As an out of state student, coming to Cal was a big move, and I was very worried about finding a community at such a large school. Joining Greek Life gave me the chance to find that community I wanted, not only with the women in my own chapter but also with people throughout the Greek system. Before joining Sigma Kappa, I was nervous, excited, and a bit skeptical of the Greek system itself. However, that all melted away once I started talking to the amazing and diverse group of women that make up the Panhellenic community.

Three years later I am still constantly impressed by Panhellenic women. I think of some of my closest friends - a future neurologist, a mechanical engineer helping revolutionize the auto industry at Tesla, and a creative writer determined to win a Pulitzer. They have their own, distinct passions and professional pursuits, but are brought together by our dedication to supporting our sisters and serving our community. They are just three of the very special women brought into my life because I am a Sigma Kappa.

Whether you have been planning on going through recruitment since the day you got your Berkeley acceptance letter, or you're still hesitant about the whole process, I highly encourage you to sign up for Fall Formal Recruitment. I can't wait for you to hear the unique and inspiring stories of the women in our community this recruitment.
